 Poor thing

OK Well this turtle was crossing the street (terrepin ornata luteola). I almost cry every time I see a desert or ornate box turtle, because of how selfish people are and because of that they drop by the hunders...thousands every year.

So he is a male and is unedr good care right now... and I would NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVERNEVERNEVER NEVER EVER want to take one out of the wild, I just couldnt live with myself.

So I am putting up flyers all over town to see if any one has a ranch or land with box turtles on it So I can release back into a wild collony.
If you live in Texas and have box turtles on your land please PM me to see how I can get him to you.
Hes under GREAT condition now, I washed him off fed him, gave him water and put him in a BIG box turtle cage. (alone)

If I can not find anyone I dont know what Ill do, I guess I would keep him with my gulf caost and three toad boxies...but that would be horrible for him (and incredibly sad)

SO PLEASE contact me if you have these turtles...thankyou!
PS.(I do not no of any wild collonies of ornates around this area but do know of some three toad and gulf coasts)
Thankyou

if there’s no other option then let it go where it was headed to go on the road, and put it into the area where it was about to go but far away from the road/highway so it doesn’t get squashed.it may have been picking up a scent from prey or a female and was about to breed. or going to a water source.

lol, by what means,interesting?

ok... do you know your advice is just as bad as releasing it in idaho (home of the turnip)

do you understand that they are so scarce a population if you piv one up and leave it a mile away from the others its DANGEROUS to all the turtles in that colony.
It was crossing a STREET and there is nothing around it (that has a colony of boxies)

sry I didnt mean to say it like that or be offensive, its just that Ive worked so hard to try to help this poor guy and help do what almost all americans wouldnt. Give up their own selfishness and spend TONS of money and energy to get this guy to a place with box turtles so there can be 1 or 2 more ornate box turtles next year.
Sry its kind of stressfull especially in corn snake breeding season and all the other animals I have and a bunch of family losses.
But a high way isnt going to help it find water.

THANKYOU FORE THE REPLY!

they have natural instinct to where water is. i didn’t mean leave it on the road!!!i meant put it the way it was heading but farther away from the road.or just do whatever and try to find a private ornate box turtle breeder.what do you think you will do with it? what sex is it?

i don’t know, i’m kind of doing an extensive survey. so far 7/8 of people and wild found box turtles are males. that means that females are declining faster, probably from crossing roads to find a nesting site or they get eggbound.
