For starters, i need a photo of his tail to sex him. Second, scrap the fruits and veggies and feed the following: 1.Aloe Vera 2.Bamboo 3.Bedstraw (cleavers) 4.Bindweed 6.Roses (petals and leaves) 7.Bristly Ox Tongue 8.Buddleia 9.Cacti (some not all) 10.Calendula Marigold/Daisy marigold 11.Campanula 12.Carrot tops 13.Cats Ear 14.Clover 15.Cornflour 16.Cut Leaved Nettle 17.Dandelion 18.Evening Primrose 19.Forget Me Not 20.Gazania 21.Globe Thistle 22.Hawks Beard 23.Henbit Nettle 24.Hibiscus 25.Honeysuckle Flowers 26.Hostas 27.Knapweed 28.Lavatera 29.Lavender 30.Lemon Mint 31.Mallow 32.Milk Thistle 33.Mimulas 34.Nasturtium 35.Pansies 36.Plantains (all) 37.Pumpkin Flowers 38.Rape 39.Red Nettle 40.Ribwort Plantain 41.Sedum 42.Shepherds Purse 43.Slender Speedwell 44.Sow Thistle 45.Spotted Nettle 46.Stinging Nettle 47.Sunflower 48.Trefoils (all) 49.Verches 50.Violets 51.White Nettle 52.Yarrow 53. Dead nettle this list is edible for all tortoises around, and is the best diet for your tortoise. You can feed the occasionally fruit once a week, such as a strawberry dusted with supplements or an apple slice. And romain lettuce is also edible. During winter if not hibernating him, you should really put in indoors with a uv light and a heat light. During summer he should have a fixed outdoor pen with natural foods to munch on (given in list above) and natural sun and heat. Here are some links for you to look at: http://tortoisetrust.org/care/cgraeca.html http://chelonia.org/Articles/iberacare.htm http://www.hermann-tortoise.co.uk/care%20sheets/care_sheets.htm - there care is similar to hermanns. |

Cornflour is a plant, a flower... and clover is a weed type plant. it looks similar to clove. it is green though. No, romain lettuce is an edible lettuce for tortoises, you can buy ti almost aywhere just ask for romaine lettuce at a grocery store. Your tortoise should be fed daily, once a day. Also, he needs a uv light, and a heat light. look at the links i gave you previously. you can feed his food on a slate peice or a shallow rock or pottery plant pot saucer, this helps keep the beak down. NO slate chalk. Cuttlefish bone is very good for calcium, some tortoises do not eat it, but will climb it which trims their claws too aswell as the beak. You should supplement their food once or twice a week with nutrobal, TNT, T-REX or similar reptile food supplements. Take your tortoise to a vet for claw clipping. Again, look at those links i gave previously they will tell you everything i promise. also looks like you got a female there. |

Quote: is there any tort food that can b grown at home in pots? like any weed or sumthing?
LOL. That was funny. Anyway, you can grow wheatgrass in pots You can buy cat wheatgrass at the pet store to grow it. Usually clover grows as a weed all over (at least it does here) so you shouldn’t have a hard time finding it. Also dandelion greens (the green leaves of the dandelions) grow all over. You can grow lettuces and mustard/collard greens in a garden, I don’t think a pot would have enough room though. Just make sure everything you feed him is well rinsed and that you’re positive no one has sprayed pesticides or anything like that on it. |

Heck, my tortoises food is. I have growing right now in (large, medium and even small pots): Large pots: Hebe, rosemary, mallow, buddleia, dead nettle and roses Medium pots: pansy, fuschia, dandelion, clover, sowthistle, milk thistle, global thistle, assorted aloe vera, small roses, sunflowers, grasses, and small hebe’s. small pots: seedlings i planted of weeds, vetch, water cress, salad cress, bitter cress, shepards purse, grass, lawn grass, clover, dandelion, thistles, and similar things. you can buy weed seeds from many places, just shop around online. EBAY SHOPS are very common now, and to buy from. Some will ship if your living in the usa. and it is still cheap. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cosy-Tortoises http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Shelled-Warriors |

Your tortoise will need a uvb reptile light when indoors. and a heat light too. When outdoors, they should be fine. If he sleeps all day and all night, try and wake him up regular and soak him once a day for 30 minutes in luke-warm shallow water. if it is hot where you live he may be to warm. |

You should try and put a dish full of a mixture of edible foods. And a dish of cool water so he can chill for abit. He may be sick, or the HOT HOT heat may be dehydratnig him. Soak him in cool water every day! Also, try and pen him up in a well shaded area, so he isnt in the sun all day. |

That Isn’t A Very Relieble Way To Sex It Anyway. It’s More Accurate To Get It Probed. |

Getting probed is not worth the money if i am personally asked. When the tortoise is more active, he or she will let you know its sex when its big and mature enough. Males tend to flash their penis every once in awhile, usually when they get soaked/bathed. Its a known fact, russians, greeks, hermanns and iberas are all easy to sex, and the usual reliable way is by seeing how long their tails are and their vent size. Also, usually greeks have a dent in their belly (plastron), and females have a more straight belly. |
