Hey there! nice to see you back and here!

Firstly, it looks like a hermanns, but could you get a plastron (belly) shot for us Turtlebites?
would be better to tell by that.

Also, she looks absolutely beautiful.

Keep that type of enclosure and bedding, its best for her.
And the diet is basically weeds, greens, and flowers.
A list can be found at ~ http://thbs.webs.com/Diet.htm

What a beauty! how big is she?

thanks! ill take a few more pix later. that was the day i got her. not even sure if its a she. that just what the guy told me but i really dont trust his judgement.

and no shes not in with my sullys. shes got her own tub. i do need to get a bigger one for her. most likely this weekend after pay day. i wasn’t sure if i wanted to keep her so she was just in a temp tub with some dirt in it.

soo new torty seems to have a cold. i noticed her making some odd noises and took a closer look and her nose has some bubbles (not a lot). shes eating and soaking well tho.

iv make her enclosure a little warmer to see if that helps. if i dont see any improvement in the nest few days shes going to the torty vet. poor thing.

im thinking respiratory infection. anything else you guys can think of doing before i make a vet trip? im a bit worried because i have my baby due any day now so ill be in the hospital for a few days im sure. im stressin about this darn tort now and not being here to make sure shes alright.

i put her in a separate room away from my other torts in case its something that’s contagious.

i think its because she was kept ina shoes box for a few days while the person that owned her before made the trip from tx to nv. maybe stress related?

sounds like RNS could be either too much humidity or not enough. My Leo had it because not enough and once i changed somethings it cleared right up but this wont take care of its self it only gets worse

 New tort

could be a number of things.

humidity
stress
incorrect husbandry
incorrect dietary

it is just pot luck in getting him or her better. (also sexing a hermanns if real easy, if the tail is long with a large "hook" shape on the end its a boy. if it is short and stubby its a girl).

I would advise vet appointment asap.

iv already made the appointment. its for thursday at 12:00. iv only had the tort a week or so. i know it went thru a lot of traveling in a dark shoes box so im thing its stress related. not to mention incorrect housing.

its been eating and soaking daily so i think that’s a good sign. haven’t seen any bubbles today so im hopeful it will clear up. i believe she went a while with no heat before i got her.

i keep calling it a girl. i just got a book on them ijust haven’t read that far into it yet. its got an indent under the belly and does seem to have a curled shell. i was thinking male just because i remember other male species having the same indent when i was a kid and kept larger torts.

anyways. im doing my best to get him or her back on track.

going without heat, being in dark, aswell as not right housing could be the problem with the tortoise.

At least the cutie is eating and soaking.
That is a good sign.

my looi had bubbles when i first got he/she, but after a few days of heat, weeds and flowers and uv! the lil fella picked up and no more bubbles!

but a second opinion from an expert vet is always best. Good Luck!
