OMG..
This afternoon my 4 yr old son was outside playing in his kiddy pool, He got quiet so I got up to check on him.. He had Tuddle in the pool with him and Tuddle was swimming! I grabbed him real qiuck and put him back in his enclosure. Needless to say my son got in trouble, but I was just glad Tuddle was ok and didnt drown. I dont know if Russian torts swim in the wild, but I’m glad instincts took over and Tuddle was ok. It was about 6 inches to a foot of water, not sure though.

OMG.. Lol. Mischievous little kid. I don’t think Russian Torts actually swim a lot, but they do like to soak in water. I wouldn’t have it above their shoulders though : )

OMG.. Yeah, he has a dish to soak in, but I definately dont let him in water that deep. It was funny after I knew Tuddle was ok, but I dont want that happening again. I guess my son wanted a live bath toy for the pool lol. He looked like he was doing the doggy paddle with his neck stretched out above the water just swimming around looking for a way out. Poor guy no more swimming for him.

OMG.. it has been known for tortoises to swim across short lengths of streams possibly a deep puddle.
However, no they would not swim at all.
Usually, they would soak in puddles, including muddy ones. but never swim.
