A russian does need to be hibernated, but you dont have to hibernate for long. Most tortoises that hibernate, will benefit from as little as 8 weeks hibernation. |

However, if you’ve recently had your tortoise, then do not hibernate for the first year of owning your tortoise. During the first winter without hibernation, house indoors in a stable enclosure with a heat light, and uvb reptile light. Then, before hibernating take the tortoise to a REPTILE SPECIALIST vetinary, and make sure your tortoise is 100% healthy, and the correct weight. |
