 Should l have brougth two

hi
l have just brought a Herman Tortoises for my Daugherty she wanted one for about 5 years
and lam bit upset because someone told me that l was cruel because l didn’t buy two is this true [

You are not cruel for not buying 2. Tortoise do just fine by themselves, and unless you got 2 females you’d have to worry about breeding because 2 males would fight, so I think it’s better to just have one.

Tortoises do not need a friend. They live happily alone for all their lives. I guess its like this:

Torty 1: Hello torty 2
Torty 2: i am leaving you now someone has offered to buy me!
Torty 1: oh well bye.

No tears, no stress, no depression.

Most animals will live happily alone.

Your not cruel at all, infact your quite a nice person for buying your daughter a tortoise.
Just make sure you got the correct housing, lighting, heating and dieting and all round good care.
