 Horsefield Tortoise Questions

Hi guys and girls!

For those who know me, i own 2 hermanns tortoises.

For awhile now, ive said i would love a horsefield. I have room for another cage which can be as large as 4foot long. My hermanns have been transferred into the hall way where soon i will be purchasing or extending their indoor habitat by from 3ft long to 5ft long.

And thats where my 4ft long space comes into. I want to fill it in as it looks empty in that corner. I am thinkin of buying a 4ft cage and purchasing one or maybe a pair of horsefields.

My main question here is do horsefield (russians) tortoises come with paper work like my hermanns did?

From what I have researched (and it has been over a year now ) your reciept when you purchase them is the documents you need to keep them !
Wow my first piece of advice - just I can not promise it is true !

hey reptic tay i have one so heres wat to do
first get him some uvb
you canuse hay as a substrate
feed him a diet of grasses and weeds and mine loves a plant called sedum so if you see that at a gardening store get it
then he needs a large walk in water bowl
underneath the hay you might want to put some top soil under the hay so it can burow but make sure it doesnt have any fertilizer in it
also there good climbers so put in some rocks it makes them happy

when I got my russian December 06 from Petco I had to sign a companion animal purchase card. Basically it says I promise to be responsible for the care of the tortoise and everything that he needs. I also got a 2 week vet guarantee that he is healthy and should anything happen in those 2 weeks I can bring him back and ge another tort or my money back.

Other than that I didnt need any paperwork for him so I dont think you’ll need any. I live in California, so check to make sure.
