New with russian tort! Got a Question!

Digging in natural for them... They like to be under the dirt/sand ...
Mine also peel around the neck...I believe it might be normal like shedding...
Also, If you purchased them from a pet store they were more than likely wild caught and maybe full of parasites... So you may want to find a exotics vet(that works with torts/turtles)and have them do a fecal sample on them....
Also you should visit russiantortoise . org (minus the spaces) for wonderful information and another tool for you to use is the yahoo group russian tortoise... very knowledgeable people that can help with all your questions...
I would give your torts some time to adjust to the new surroundings....

Just a checklist....
Mercury vapor bulbs work best to give them the heat and UVB rays they need
Substrate should be that of organic dirt or bed a beast mixed 50/50 with clean play sand
The area under the heat lamp should be kept moist(warm moist is good, cool moist is not good)
Diet is very important, weeds and grasses (listed on the website russian tortoise) or (REPTICTAY will usually list them all, she is very informative) Greens from the grocery store should be ... endive, escarole, dandelion, cactus pad, prickly pear(once in awhile)(those are staples, you can and should add variety)
Hiding spots... clay flower pots on their sides work well
Shallow water dish ... big enough for them to sit in/drink from but not over their heads
and loose hay such as orchard hay, timothy hay
Im sure I forgot some stuff, its late sorry

New with russian tort! Got a Question!

I bought them both from petco..... Do you think they cam from the wild?

We did alot of research for a couple months on bedding and feeding, just because you are in it for the long haul with tortoises. But I appreciate any incite in this just due to the fact they already feel like my kids.

Thank You!!
Georja

Yes... pretty sure they are wild caught....
Most people do buy them from petco (or other pet stores) Mine are both rescues from previous petco buyers...
Do not follow the petco care sheet... Most of the time(if not all of the time) pet store care sheets are very wrong
