 ?tortoise?

I was told this turtle was a "Russian Tortoise" however there are some differences in all the Russian tortoise photos i could find.

our turtles has a brown iris and the scales on her skin around her arms and legs is not as thick and her overall color is much more yellow green than the russian tortoise photos we found can anyone point me in the right direction?

Looks either a 3 toed box turtle or a box turtle of some sort.

Maybe even a gulf coast box turtle, the photos look very similar to a GCB.

when you say uvb i assume you mean "ultra violet bulb" i dont have an ultra voilet light but i do have flourescent "plantlife aquarium vegatation bulbs" made by ge. there is 4 tubes totaling 145 watts. do you suggest i get a "black light" (flourescent tube purple light makes white objects glow) will that help her overall digestive health. the aquarium flourescents make my plants grow well so i assume that because there is adequate photosynthesis that there are enough spectrums of lights to sustain my turtle?
allso does any one know how i can find out what kind of turtle she is exactly?
thank you all for your help and support

what you need is a REPTILE uv light. find one that is prefrably Reptiglo or Reptisun.

Then you need a basking spot of around 60-75 watt, that will provide a basking spot for the turtle to go and heat up there.

also you can see the reflection of the aquarium bulbs below the turtle

I see, its amazing! however, i would absolutely add some substrate, maybe a forest floor bedding with dry leaves, branches. the best bedding would be topping soil mixed with play sand of 50/50 mixture from both.

Any tortoise or turtle may look beautiful, and fine...but it depends on their previous care. I would still get a reptiglo or reptisun uv light, and a basking spot.

also, a box turtle rarely swims so i think??? i doubt she will swim in a deep pond. soo maybe add loads of rocks to that pond so she can go in and soak and drink when she pleases.

Your doing just fine, just need the odd alterationt hats all =]

try looking at those links i posted earlier.
