 Impaction!!!

Is sand a good substrate for tortoises? I’ve herd that when they dig it will get in their scales and eyes.

Its fine if you mix it w/ soil. A 50/50 mix is recommended for most torts.

Hi Bob! alternatively you can use:

Aspen (used for cornsnakes)
Hemp (hemcore / auboise which is often horse bedding)
Grass turf
just top soil (loam based john innes is perfect)
