Wanted- Box Turtle to Adopt
If anyone has one they no longer want please let me know, I have an indoor and outdoor set up, and know how to care for a hibernating species . Mine was a female, I think probably a Three toed or Eastern Box, but any box species wold be fine. Will drive to other states on the East Coast to pick up. |

Tried to reply via message and got some weird error thing, something about the site doing updates for 4 or 5 days and I can’t send mesages? anyway Wow that seems cool, I had a female Eastern Box she was about 20 years old and was a rescue, poor baby had only three legs and I think for that reason I loved her more. I would help her dig becuse she couldn’t do it well being her front leg, we think some kid let her loose and we found her in the street right around halloween in a residential area. This species is not native in this region and took her to the vet after placing ads and contacting every vet in the area we adopted. I had her aliitle over seven years, this was hibenation number 7, not sure what happened she was fine, seemed perky had good weight and was eating and drinking for a few weeks and then gone, She did wake up on her own from hibernation pretty early this year, usually wakes late April, this year it was near st pattys day. I figured it was the mild winter and in hind sight should have probably rescheduled the annual vet appointment, I also have a RES that was an SPCA Wildlife rescue, Lucky was taken with another larger RES, he had shell rot an was thin, it took almost three months and finally they called us to come and adopt, I have had lucky since 1996 and he is something else, grew like nuts (but I do admit as a species they are not as endearing as the EBT) I Got a Russina Tort same thing, someone bought it for an 11 year old who stopped caring an feeding it, Lucy is charming, I like lucy alot and would never trade her, but darn she is way faster the Stubbie was, Stubbie would garden with me, thats how she fed. I’m closing late middle aged and my warm months are spent alot in the yard with my turtles and plants, My son built me a water pond and a better turtle enclosure both with screens because we saw alot of crows and ospreys and I don’t want them to hurt my turtles. We have skunks that have started to come into the village and I had some concern about them too so we covered all basis. There pretty common (The Russian Torts) around here, The Easterns aren’t. I will keep my eyes peeled for a female Russian for you and let you know if you would like, I don’t raise them myself |

I would even be up for a trade, I’d trade a few of my boxies for a tort. I have orange/ish, red, and yellow babies right now.. I’ll add a pic if I can.. I will ship them, we are used to shipping reptiles. We also raise bearded dragons, I’d be willing to trade a few of them for a female Russian too..
