Not good for a begginer. They don’t eat meat, they eat plants. Tortoises take a lot of work and you need to research their needs before getting one.

I agree...It is not a beginner tortoise... They need protein once a month (on average) and it can be some form of meat but doesnt have to be, could be hard boiled eggs.. but only a little and only about once a month
but not a beginner tort as skum boss has said....
and make sure to do LOADS of research FIRST on whatever you decide to get

 RED-FOOTED Tortoise

I agree a Redfoot is not a good beginner tort. They require different care and can have problems easier then a desert tort such as a Russian...

Not a Beginner -When you’ve kept torts successfully healthy for years and you know where and how to research and that it takes a long time to learn, when you take the time to set up the enclosure just right before you get a tort and you take the time to learn how to care for the tort propperly. That includes being able to take it to the vet if something goes wrong.

A beginner is someone new to torts or someone who has had one or more but never really researched how to care for them propperly, so they think they are doing it right but more then likely are not.
Do you really need to ask what a beginner is ....

I would be a beginner red-foot owner because I didn’t know they eat protein. I definitely would’ve known that if I was planning on getting one because I would research it, because I’m not a beginner russian tortoise keeper.

Go to redfoottortoise.com and see if you are capable of meeting the red-foot tortoise husbandry requirements. Red-foot tortoise’s are omnivour’s eating BOTH plant & animal matter. They get up to a 18" carapace(shell) and weigh over 20 lbs. when fully grown. They can live over 60 yrs. They require a humidity level of 60%-80% which makes them a little harder to raise. DO YOUR HOMEWORK/RESEARCH B4 OBTAINING ANY EXOTIC ANIMAL!!
