Not sure what to say - Does he eat a lot of the mulch or eat it every day? You may need to change the substrate to something else if your worried about impaction. Is he going poo ok? Maybe he is lacking in vitamins or ..... - what are you feeding him? Lots of variety?

Last year I read that they eat sticks and dry leaves and what not to clean they’re intestines out before aestivataion. Did your temps, light, or humidity change recently? He might be preparing.

I believe Skumboss meant Hibernation - Aestivation or Estivation is done during summer not winter but is similar to hibernation in the winter. Can you answer some of the questions we all asked? Is he still doing it?

I didn’t know they do both. I thought aestivation is hibernation for animals that live in hot climates where winter is still hot, just dryer. Learn something every day.

his enclosure has stayed the same, and he is pooing just fine, and his diet is varied, i think he was just doing it to get extra fiber or something like that, idk, but he seems to be doing fine
