 Marginated

I have seen worse pyramiding on a tortoises shell.

If he is 6 inches then he or she could be anything from 5 years and upwards. The shell has a classic plastic look which is often called "plastic shell". This is where the tortoise has not had UV or if the tortoise has had UV then it has been very very little. I suggest getting a 10.0 strip-flourescent tube light that gives off nothing but UV-B rays. This will help alot. Get some calcium powder and sprinkle this on the food daily and also get vitamin liquid for reptiles to put in the water. Do not keep in vivarium or glass tank, table top only or indoor rabbit cage. Have a UV-B light reflector (you can make one out of cardboard, bend in half and wrap foil around it and just hand on the uv light itself). I suggest feeding edible weeds with a slice of carrot here and there. Marginated care is the same as hermanns and russain tortoises. Marginated tortoises should get to a minimum of 8 inches shell length, most get to around 10 or so inches due to their rear-carapace flare.

:)
