 Red Footed Tortoise Won’t Eat

My son bought a red-footed tortoise 2 weeks ago. He’s 4 years old and is joining my sons existing 2 year old female red-footed tortoise. The 4 year old tortoise will not eat. He’s tried greens and fruit. We could really used some advice here. Thanks for your time.

where’d you get it from?....perhaps contact the previous owner as to prefered diet.

Mine loves, blue berries, diced strawberries, corn on the cob. and soaked koi pellets for protein.
also likes superworms, earthworms & on occasion cat food...

as long as your husbanry requirements are in tact (temp, humidity, UVB lighting, substrate) a red-foot should Pig-out atleast every other day.....

I would quarantine this red-foot as if it is infected it can pass it on to the other red-foot if housed together.

perhaps, take a poop sample to the vet for a fecal testing as to parasites

can you give me a size & weight of your Red-Foot & we can determine its over-all growth
and general health as to size

my 2 1/2 year old Red-Foot is almost 8" inches(measured at the bottom of shell)
and wieghs 1 1/2 kilos or 3 lbs.

for best growth rate & health a humidity level of 60% minimum is required

Beardies prefer a hot, dry environmenet with lots of lighting...
&
Red-Foots prefer a shady, humid environment with a water source & damp substrate to wallow in and hides provided to get out of the light for awhile
as they can be light sensitive.....
thats more of an environment favorable to housing
with Water Dragons than Bearded Dragons.

I’m not saying your putting your Red-Foot in immidiate danger,
though there is a thing known as "Natural Known Habitat"
in which a species has evolved to certain conditions & is best equipped to "thrive in"

there is a BIG difference in "surviving" & "thriving"

ow ya i understand. :-) they did grow up togeather since dragons where babies (they where seperated in same cage but could see each other) and when dragons got bigger i put them togeather. they do normaly hang out in different spots where temp is different. dragons climb branch i have to get the warmth they want and need when tortised stay a little farther away. I will try and put up pic when i can. I have not been able to upload pic on this site lately.
