Possible sick russion toroise
I purchased a pair of female russiona toroises a few months ago and they dont fight they eat well and are both around a year old. Since I got them however one of them makes an excess of bowl movements and are primarily liquid. The other makes small solid bms. The messy tortoise is so messy and frequent that i rarely feel comfortable taking him out of the tank. I want him to be happy and healthy and maybe he is but i would like some outside opinions. He is also considerably heavier than the more regular solid bm turtle. Do I need help????????????

It is always good to make a vet visit to check for parasites. Especially in Russian torts since most of them are not captive bred. However, I have seen this happen similarly with my Russian. A lot of time, this can happen because the tort is startled and scared. Remember, they are native to arid climates so their bodies tell them not to release liquid unless another source is readily available. So the bottom line is to take her to the vet if you can afford it. If nothing else get a fecal sample to the vet and have him check for parasites. In the mean time, I would make sure she gets soaked regularly to keep her hydrated.

I have several russian torts.. is one much lighter then the other? If so you need to have a fecal float done. In the am put your torties in a medium bath no higher then the bottom of their shell, let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes.. they will relieve themselves there, clean their cage while they are soaking, DAILY, and then when you put them back make sure that you have a variety of greens waiting for them, they sell a toroise supplement that you can sprinkle on their greens, watch their eating habits, if one stops, its in trouble, also watch for sunken eyes. Your best bet is to take you Russian to a professional
