Hi, Well, my opinion is that Sulcata’s are "the best" . But that is just a personal opinion. I think that they are very well mannered, and pretty easy to care for. They live a very long time and get pretty big, so you’ll need to take that into consideration. Like I said, this is just a personal opinion. But whatever you decide on, please look at all the facts on that particular tortoise, so it doesn’t become an unwanted pet. Thanks Carissa

Hey! I think sulcatas are really cool, but i couldn’t get one because i live in an apartment, and i didn’t wanna torture the fella with to little space.
I personally think that russian tortoises are "the best". Here’s mine:

They’re very jolly, easy to take care of and don’t get very big (but they eat A LOT ). They’re a GREAT joy

the best tortoise is the sulcata . my friend has six of them and they are just really neat. they eat out of my five year olds hand . we have two arizona desert tortoies the are ok but are only active three mounts out of the year. we want to get sulcata torts but they are really hard to come by at a good price . my five year old has been saving her money in the hopes to get one . well that is just our opinion but we know you would love them if you had the chance to be around them good luck bamasdad

How big of an animal are you wanting?
Sulcatas are very cool, we have 2 of them, but keep in mind they can get over 3 feet across, 200lbs and live over 100 years. You have to keep this in mind when you get one, what is gonna happen to it once you die?
Look into red foot and or yellow foot, also the Hermans and greek tortoise.
All of those do not get very large but large enough you wont hurt them easily.

In my opinion, the best turtle would be an Ornate Boxturtle. The Ornate Boxturtle is a land tortoise. They are very hardy tortoises. The`re sorce of food are insects that are smaller then the turtle itself and all fruits exept for citrus fruits. They also will eat most vegetables. They are about 5-6 inches as adults. The Ornate Box Turtle can live happily in a 15-20 gallen tank, which also makes them pretty inexpensive. If cared for properly they can live 20-30 years.

I think that Russians are the "best" tortoises. They are vegetarian annd are adorable. Ive had mine for about a year and a half. Phoenix(the tortoise) is well mannered and fun to play with.my other pets seem to get along well with him also. He once got on top of his "cave thing" and jumped off. The suspense was killing me!hehe:p
