what is the general reason a wtf will be green or brown? i have tried higher and lower humiditys along with higher and lower temps and a mix of inbetween and i cant get them to go green again.

any suggestions or ideas? they were green in the petstore.... and now they only turn green during feeding time

this is highly upsetting because green looks better to me. as long as i know they are happy and healthy i dont care though.

Thanks,
Wayne

Can you show us a pic of your frog and set up?
What are the temp and humidity?
Do you have a lot of greenery in the tank?

I notice that both of my daughter’s frogs turn green when they are hidden behind the plants. when they are closer to the bottom or under the fake hides, the female tends to turn brown pretty quickly.

im still in the process of building a new tank for them. i dont have any pictures of the holder right now. its about 90% humidity and around 85 - 90 degree inside the tank. plenty of hides to go lower from heat. i have a pothos in the enclosure as well. its a 20 gal tal. i know its technically small for 2 wtfs, but thats the biggest i have open while i work on the new 400 gal.

thanks,
Wayne

Hi there I do not believe there is a 100% accurate answer to your question. My first WTF Jasper stays brown apart from when I hold him. My other 2 WTF remain green all the time.

It is normal for them to change colors. Some will stay green most of the time and there are some that will stay brown most of the time. Some will change back and forth. Mine are usually green when they are up high on the glass or on a limb. When they are on the bottom they are normally brown or partially brown.
Sometimes environment changes will help.
Your humidity is way to high, you need to get that lowered to some where around 50 to 60. Your temps could be lowered too. Temps can range from 79 to 85. No need for the temps to be higher than 85 unless they are sick.

Here is a very good care sheet to follow:

thats going to be the goal. i want to start a mini breeding colony but i want it to be plenty of room in the tank to hold the eggs all adults and have room for the new frogs. i will have a water area in the bottom and if i see eggs i will use a screen to cover it so if any other frog wants to or even attempted to try to eat the eggs they wont be able to. but im still working on it so we shall see.

Wayne

thanks for the post whitie

im working on the step by step process i have pictures. its just my camera keeps going stupid. i think it might have been the batteries got to cold and went dead in the package because they were brand new. ill try and get them up as soon as possible.

i think im going with a bottom to a showerstall. its 36" x 36" inside and the smallest one they have in lowes is 36" x 36". that gives me a base that is strong and has a built in drain right in the center. its $100 though so i have to wait til a good payday. IE not right before christmas lol. o and i dunno if anyone in this area would be interested, but im getting two Las Vegas Patternless Albino Leopard Geckos and im going to try and start a breeding program if anyone is interested in babies. im not counting eggs beforehand, but i dont want to bring babies into the world without having any possible parents. the petstores i go to said they would be interested.

ill try and get those pictures up asap though guys. i know there are a few people on here that want to see the big tank.
