do not plant the pothos into your enclosure if you haven’t done that first!! it is recommended that you let the replanted plant grow in its new soil for about a month before introducing it into the enclosure. this is so all of the chemicals that were sprayed onto the leaves and soaked up by the roots has time to dissipate. you could poison your frogs if you dont. |

As already said, make sure you rinse the front and backs of the leaves well, and get all the dirt and little Styrofoam balls of the roots and stems. I have never heard of planting them a month ahead to make sure the chemicals are all out. (That really doesn’t make since to me). Some like to plant them a month early so they have a good root system going before putting the frogs in. I have always just stuck them in the eco earth and watered well and they have done really well. In one of my tanks I just have them in a vase with water. (Of course they were rinsed well before putting them in water and in the tank). Make sure you put a layer of gravel under the eco earth so that there is plenty of drainage. |

Pothos (or Devils Ivy) is probably the most common houseplant, you will typically find it in hanging baskets. Big heart-shaped leaves that then send off shoots/vines with more leaves. Very hardy, a really good choice. I put a small 3" pot into the center of a 29 gal tank and in 6 months it had fully filled it, so get a smaller one. You will need to trim in back. There is a pic on this link. Link |
