 Mealworms and WTFs

My friend is looking into getting a White Dumpy Tree Frog but she hates crickets. They are also hard to find in our area. I also have a mealworm colony for my gecko, so she wants to dip into my supply. Can WTFs live off mealworms or superworms? I know it wouldnt be the best, but could they (crickets every once in awhile for variation)?

Crickets should be the main diet for wtfs. Most whites won’t eat worms, because they move to slow.
If this person hates crickets maybe they should think of some other pet.

Super worms here (Canada) are the large worms..king worms is another name.... These shouldn’t be fed to any amphibians...

Mealworms can be fed but its a risk and controvercial between keepers... Meal worms have chitin a hard shell that causes impaction in frogs when consumed in large quantities...

The frogs basic diet should be crickets...If you add worms to the diet its better to use wax worms or other soft bodied worms....

If anyone cannot keep crickets then its well wise to not buy a frog......

STaple for any frog has to be crickets....

They could survive on other food for awhile. However they have long life spans and s/he would shorten it considerably.... Never mind the parasite loads that come with some foods... Most frogs are raised on pinhead crix and fruit flies or wingless flies first. Each frog has specific parasite loads assiciated to their diets... Changing diets can cause overload and complications like impactions, bacterial infections etc...
