 How do u keep humidity up?

alright i got a problem with humidity during the day im constantly having to spray the tank because it goes down to 40%!! i covered half the lid of my exo terra tank with sarran wrap or whatever its called and it helped a lil but any other way to keep humidity up? Its for my WTFs

Adding another water dish..... or live plants can help...

Usually just mist.... As long as you mist a few times throughout the day its fine. Everyone has humdity that drops some and they they mist again...

well if you’re a bit crafty you can spend very little money, and create a very safe, very cool fogger, that automatically goes off as many times as you want during the day. So you go to walmart and get an ultrasonic humidifier with cool mist. Make sure you get the one with adjustable mist settings, not just low and high. Then take a funnel, (a kitchen funnel) and place the wide mouth over the opening of the humidifier. Take crazy glue and glue an air tight seal around the funnel. Then buy some thick tubing from home depot, and glue that to the small opening of the funnel. When you turn on the mister, the fog will travel up the funnel and through the tube, which you will then put into the tank. It gives the tank a very cool feel. Hook the mister up to a 24 hr timer and there ya go. I have this set to go off 4 times a day for 30 mins each time. I had it set for 3 times but I noticed the humidity going down too fast so I upped it. I can send pics and instructions if you want.

wow i just remebered i have a fogger but idk were its at i will look for it :D i do have a timer so yes i can set that thing up :D
thanks for the info my mom got a Peace lilly but it stall has to grow roots idk if it can though i will look for this fogger thanks for the info though :D

i was thinking a Exo terra fogger? i could make something for it to go on the outside of the tank so my WTFs dont get shocked? but they are expensive like 50$!! so i will wait a lil while but im sparaying the tank like 8 times a day

Adding a substrate and live plants really helps. Put in a layer of gravel and then several inches of EcoEarth. Remove your plants from their soil, wash them and plant right into the EcoEarth. Push down the EcoEarth like land. You should find it is much easier to maintain the humidity, with maybe just a spray in the morning and at night.

FYI as long as it is around 60% for a whites that is fine.

if i get 1 i will :D because the humidity keeps dropping WAY down and i constantly have to spray it it goes down into the 40% range in like an hour after spraying

If you add a fogger to any tank there is several things you should be aware of...


First they can shock the frogs... If you want to try it yourself you just put your finger on it when its in the water..Its quite a little jab...
So you must find a way to hide it from the frogs so they can’t be shocked..

secondly they have cords so crickets use any cords to try and get out so be aware of this with any corded item.... Also hiding them so you can move the item to get and in and out for cleaning or maintenance...

Third they should be on a timer... You cannot leave these going with Whites for instance because humidity will be too high so bacterial issues then present themselves like mold, mildew, algae.... So you want to do homework for the frogs yours housing.. Some rain forest frogs love it..others it can effect adversely..

I know that ILoveGreen has a humidifier hooked up to one of her tanks and it is on a timer, it’s a standard one with an extra hose on it. You may be able to find it on here or she may have shown it on the other forum. (talkto.thefrog.org)

i wasnt going to put it in the tank im going to put it on the outside on top and let the fog go through the screen so my frogs cant get shocked and i will have it on a timer. Thanks for the help and info so far on helping me with my WTFs
