 Tadpoles

Hi everyone!

My boy finished his last day of kindergarten last week, and we were chosen to take over car of the class tadpoles. His teacher met some of our WTFs and our corn snakes before, so we were the natural choice.

Funny thing is, I’ve never ever taken care of tadpoles, so I’ve been playing it by ear since last week.

They are Wood frogs, native to Alberta (where we live) not on the endangered list, and they were approved by fish and wildlife before they were brought to the classroom.

I have them in a 25 gallon bowfront tank, about 3 inches deep, with a very small filter, some clean driftwood, a few live plants and a few artificial ones (Exoterra brand). They also have some raised dry areas to climb on when the time comes.
I feed them Omega brand Freshwater flake food, and every second day, I drop in an Omega veggie round. They seem to like it, and are growing. There are 14 taddies, and all look well.

Any suggestions on what else to do for them? I plan on releasing them near a pond (area is heavily populated with frogs) when transformation is complete.
