 My Blue Dumpy...

Smeagle’s still not doing well. He’s eating, but not a lot. He’s been dark brown for so long without any change at all. I heard that raising temperatures and lowering the humidity would make him bluer, but it didn’t work.

I’ve isolated him in a hospital tank with paper towels, two caves, a water bowl, and a red heat lamp. His temperatures are 85 and his humidity is about 45.

I did the full week of mela fix, but it didn’t do anything.

What should I do? =(

 My Blue Dumpy...

I was told to keep the humidity between 30-40 while he’s sick. He’s in a hospital tank at the moment.

His real home is a 20 gallon.
Coconut fiber substrate
two live plants
a cave
a vine
two fake plants
a water dish
temperature 85
humidity 60-70
I used to have moss in it, so people thought it was impaction, but what they told me to do didn’t help

His hospital tank is a 10 gallon
paper towel substrate
two caves
a water bowl
temperature 85
humidity 30-40

yeah you want low humidity in a hospital tank, bacteria and all that good stuff loves moisture. what are your plant potted in? i myself stay away from live plants because there are so many things that can harm these frogs, what works for some doesnt work for others. have you tried to soak him? is he eating at all? how long have you had him? has he been in this cage for a while and this is all of a sudden or everything is new?

 My Blue Dumpy...

They’re plants from petsmart, so they’re in the gel stuff.

I soaked him in warm water every day for about ten minutes for a week and soaked him in some water with mela fix in it for about a minute once a day for a week.

He’s eating a little bit. One large cricket every other day

I’ve had him for around a month and half

He was in the 20 gallon the whole time and then got sick.

Give him a week and you may need to do the mela dips again. You need to give him a break from it.

The plant you said is in a gel of some sort? Most of those gels have fertilzers in it. dump that out and clean the roots and container really well. If the plant is a pothos you can just put it in plan water. Be sure to rinse the leaves front and back really well.

It says on the container it’s not toxic to amphibians or reptiles. O.o It’s from a petstore

Didn’t my title say what frog it was? He’s a blue dumpy tree frog.

right now you should give him medium crickets since he is sick. the large ones are big and boney and probly harder to digest for him.

did you add anything new to the tank recently?

ok, give him some time to adjust after the mela dips.
If he is eating that is a good sign, keep and eye on him, but give him as much privacy as you can.
Hopefully you will start seeing some improvement soon.

After I was told moss was dangerous, I immediately removed it and changed his set up completely to benefit him.

This was also way after he started showing signs of illness, though
