Red-Eyed Tree Frog with white raised dots

Wonderful forum. Thanks to the creator and posters.

I am the proud owner of one RETF (red eyed tree frog) and he (or she) has raised white dots on his back.

I picked him up from the pet store yesterday and put him in his new terrarium. Last night the RETF seemed to try and "scratch" his back by using his back legs and also his front legs. I have read about the fungal infection Oodinium and wondering if that is what is. The only treatment that I found on the internet is a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide applied with a small paint brush. Can anyone offer any assistance? There are absolutely NO vets in my area that would touch this wonderful creature. I have also read the horrors of red leg disease which really concerns me because the coloring that is showing on my RETF where his back leg attaches to his body has a red tinge to it which I am hoping is a natural coloring. Thank to anyone in advance that may be able to help me.

I emailed you the pics of Fiona. White spots are okay... florescent green is not good. Good luck with your friend.

White specks are totally normal, the "scratching" was likely just him removing shed.

The dots should not be raised to the touch... only like polka dots on a pce of cloth..

The advice I put on other posts with red eye issues would be of benefit...

I wouldn’t use the peroxide...mela fix is a natural medication that is less harsh....

The legs sound normal most are pink in this area...if red leg it would be breaking out in blisters or ulcers like open wounds...you’d know... Red leg is caused by damp, unkept environment and crowded transport situations etc....

Before any treatment its wise to post pics if you can but no harm in putting up temps and keeping humidity down until sure.... By posting pics we can tell if normal or not without stress to the frog especially where he is so new...

Thank you so very much for your post. The amount of white dots are significantly less. I also say him eat a cricket last night so I think he is adjusting to his new environment just fine. It is comforting to know about the coloring and what to look for. Many many thanks to everyone that has posted.
