RETF STRANGE BEHAVIOR, PLEASE HELP!!!!
Ok, about the red eyed tf, He seems happy at night, normal heartbeat and all, but He keeps waking up all stressed out in the middle of the day! I know it seems silly, but He acts like He’s having nightmares. Please help me! |

Posts pics of the setup which will help most. Read through this caresheet and check it against what you’re doing to start. Link |

Sounds to me like there is issues in his tank... Is he climbing all over during day hours acting frantic? Some frogs will follow you on the glass trying to communicate that they want out of the tank.. All this is a sign of something wrong like others have said. If you cannot post pics can you give a write up of everything that is in his tank... Act fast.....They succumb quickly... HOPPY |

First using books for the temps and humidity isn’t wise... Use what members here have given you. Books get outdated very quickly and aren’t written in general by someone who keeps that specific frog. I like the warmer side for temps especially new and young frogs so 80f to 85f for day and 70 to 75f nights... Humidity should also be followed... being rain forest its around 70% or 60 to 70.... As for your substrate...insure you have drainage. When using any of the soil or coconut substrates (exo earth). Drainage stops mold and bacteria etc building up in such a humid envioronment... You also mentioned calcium.... How are you giving it by dusting crix? Is he eating then? Signs of illness usually show in appetite first so if eating then he is most likely ok....But if temps or anything arn’t in line you should change them even if eating or you risk illness or hibernation etc or loss of appetite. The frog awake or climbing day could be looking for heat etc... So please review.. Questions are because without knowing proper temps humidity and if the frog is new its hard to answer if there is reason for concern or if you are new to the hobby etc.... All these things play part in their care. HOPPY |

You will also find that you need some gravel under the EcoEarth, about 1/2" and then at least 2" of Eco Earth otherwise there is not enough to hold moisture, 1/2" of soil is not enough you may as well use paper towel. Be careful also with such a small tank (which is fine for babies) but they can get too hot really fast using heat. Also for babies you need to have a tight temp range, 80-85 day and no lower than 75 at night. Again a picture would be best. |
