 Anyone know about de-fertilizing?

i just bought some plants (spider plant and bromeliads) and i was wondering if anyone knew how to make sure all of the fertilizer was gone from it before planting it in my tank.

When transplanting from a pot that has fertilizer its best to remove all soil from the root ball... Rinse the roots and leaves (whole plant) and then plant in your tank...
