New wtf ?
After allot of research i finally went and bought my wtf I’m hoping this setup is correct. He is in a 10 gallon tank with a large screen top that i would say adds another 10 gallons the humidity stays at 60% and temp is around 80 degrees i have pea gravel on the bottom of the tank covered with wire mesh then bed a beast substrate 2 large pieces of wood that go all the way to the top of the enclosure a large water dish big enough for him to stretch out in fully with a couple of stones on one side just in case he just wants a dip and not a soak plenty of hanging fake vines on top and allot of fake plants for hiding on the bottom i have a uvb/uva broad spectrum light for use during the day and a red bulb for night a combination thing to monitor heat and humidity a background for the back of the tank he doesn’t seem stressed so didn’t cover any of the sides I’m not sure of his age he is maybe 2 inches in length and a very bright blueish green. I have Mela fix on hand just in case. This wont be his permanent home I’m working on a 20 gallon tall for him then plan to use this tank for a couple tree frogs maybe. Ill try and post a picture soon. If anyone has any suggestion or if i have done something wrong with the setup any advice would be appreciate. Thanks so much

New wtf ?
All sounds good and glad to see you did some research too.. it pays.... :)
Age of your frog is hard to tell but most pet shops sell them young if possible. Two inches is a teen or sub adult generally so around 6 mths to a year. It depends on food, genetics etc...
With uv lights insure you diffuse the lighting which it sounds like you have done with vines. This is just to dim the light to the middle and substrate of the tank to protect the frogs eyes. Any bulbs over 60 watts or with uv can damage their eyes without protection...
Where you have fake plants its not necessary to have uv lighting. Many use normal house bulbs with fake plants. Just mentioning as it could save you money but certainly nothing wrong with using a uv bulb... Some experts argue that uv is neccessary but this is controvercial as others believe nocturnal creatures neither need nor desire uv....
I can tell by your post that you do know that a 10 gallon can be used only as a start tank.. Whites do require room like a 20 gallon. If you haven’t bought a tank yet keep in mind that Whites like to walk on the substrate so long for them is fine in tanks.
Both long and high are acceptable with Whites. Many on here use the exo terra tanks..ideal for frogs...
Where he is already 2 inches he would be ready for the larger tank. Use however the 10 for quarantining him till the other is ready but make sure its not too long in time a month or two is fine. By this time you know if he is healthy...
Good luck with him...enjoy the forum

New wtf ? Thanks so much for the reply there is allot of useful information on this forum . I haven’t got the 20 gallon yet i have a 55 gallon that i have been thinking of setting up. I do believe I have an addiction to frogs lol. I really don’t have the room for the larger tank but the idea of being able to add a couple more WTF I have to say is very appealing so I will have to decide soon especially with winter approaching. Dimples seems really content in his tank this far he loves his large water dish for him I’m sure the 10 gallon seems like paradise compared to what pet smart had him housed in. I looked at my UV light its 50 watts and the vines do a nice job of diffusing it. I didn’t know you could just use a regular house light bulb much cheaper ill keep that tip in mind for further use. I was also wondering if you really have to feed the pinkie mice I’m fine with crickets and worms and if it is beneficial to Dimples then ill suck it up and touch a mouse. I was thinking that if I do go with the 55 gallon that 3 or maybe 4 WTF would be OK in that size would that be an appropriate number. Ive also read that handling them with proper hand washing and keeping treated water on your hands is OK for short periods then Ive read that you shouldn’t handle them because of the salt and all so any advice on that issue would be appreciated I would love to hold him but don’t want to hurt him Thanks again

New wtf ? Congrats on the new frog!!!
Crickets should be his staple food. Dusted with vitamen and d3 once a week. Worms are high in fat and can cause other problems too. I keep away form them personally for my frogs. They are not a natural food source.
Pinkies are not necessary. They are again very high in fat and nutritionally not beneficial really.
So feeding crickets is fine!!!
Wtf are the most "handleable" of TF. If your hands are washed and rinsed well yes you can hold them for a few minutes. The biggest concern is to insure you have no soap, perfume, cleaners etc etc on your skin as they absorb everything through their skin. So as long as you keep that in mind you can handle him. We feed ours outside their tank so the girls get to hold them while bringing them out to feed. They love this time to spend with their frogs and the frogs seem to enjoy it too. I’d give him time to settle in first though.

New wtf ? Thanks she is just so darn cute I’m thinking i have a female the one i got was much larger then the other one guess i will have to wait and see if i hear any croaking i think I’m gonna name it pickles that way works for either gender lol I’m so glad to hear they can be handled for short periods i only have one in the tank so there really isn’t any need to take her out for feeding but after she settles in may give it a try i usually just count the crickets and i am so happy to hear that pinkies are not necessary i was really not liking the idea of that at all
