Help pickin a frog Start with one species, then if things go well branch out. They all need separate tanks. They all need different care.
I would research alot before selecting anything. Make sure that your tank is all ready before getting one. Make sure that the temps and humidity hold correctly (you need gauges in the tank to know that).
Check out amphibiancare.com and see their caresheets for each species and tank building guides and other care info.
The whites is a great beginner frog, just be sure to have at least a 20gal tank, the heat lamp, (no uv), water soaking bowl, large sturdy plants.

Help pickin a frog Haven’t posted in FOREVER. But my vote is whites. Great beginner frog but you won’t be bored with them even when your expertise develops. Love to be handled (with clean hands). All around great frog but I’d start with a pair. The rule for whites on space is 20 gal for the first one and add an additional 10 gal for each additional whites tree frog. But definitely study up a lot on them online or even a book. Good luck!

Help pickin a frog I’ve kept all of those. White’s are good frogs, but no frog "loves" to be handled. The toxins on our skin from our sweat and natural oils are toxic to them. They basically drink through their skin so it is important to not touch them too much to keep them healthy. I think the Tomato and the White’s are the most interesting of that group. The chubby and the red-leg will burry themselves and rarely come out. All of these species are nocturnal, but whites will usually wake up for meal time whenever. Tomatos are beautiful, but require cool temps. Look to get a 20 gal tall tank for the whites, a 15 gal for a tomato, a 10 for the chubby or red leg.

Help pickin a frog Sh0e, you are correct. Its best not to overhandle any frog due to their fragility. But personally mine react well and appear to enjoy being handled once a day or every other day briefly.

Help pickin a frog I wouldn’t say mine enjoyed it, but I will admit they were always rather oblivious to everything except food. I had one grab my thumb and try shoving it into his mouth. Nearly died laughing.
