 Daytime temp problem

hello everyone!

Stuey, my WTF, habitat is not getting or staying warm enough for him. He is in a classroom and the school tends to get cold, I wear a sweater on most days. He has a 20 gallon tank, an UTH, and two lightbulbs on a timer for the daytime, they’re 60 watts. If I cover the top mesh part of his tank with a towel or saran wrap it gets warm enough but the humidity gets dangerously high for him. Most days his light is on, the UTH is on 24 hrs but I leave his one of the doors open so the humidity can escape. I have an electric space heater, it’s not one of the flamable kind and is approved for school usage. Can I place it under the desk?? The idea is that the heat would rise and heat the tank more. The air is turned off on the weekends and at night so those temps i’m not worried about so much.

I know I asked you guys for help last school year and I think the highest I could get the tank during the day was 80.

high 70’s to low 80’s is fine for a white’s. The UTH will not raise ambient air temps unless stuck to the side of the aquarium. I wouldn’t worry though. You can bump one of the lights up to a 75 watt, but as long as you have a 60 watt on over a basking spot then he’ll climb towards it or away from it depending on what he feels like. I would give him sturdy branches that let him sit under the lamp. Space heater is something I’ve used for herp rooms in winter, but for a single white’s you should be fine with lamps.

I’ll try the higher wattage lightbulb. I thought that 60 was as high as I could go but I’ll trust your opinion.
