 New Whites owner with questions

I’m a new owner of a juvenile Whites Tree Frog named Spicy Marmalade. And I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to this type of frog.
I’ve been trying to keep his cage around 85-88 in the day and maybe 80-82 at night, but he still always seems cold.
Though I don’t have a substrate heater, and I’m now thinking I should get one, but all I know is it should have a thermostat attached.
Would a piece of wood that’s a dome shaped with the bark on one side be a good conductor for the heat? Is there even the slightest possibility that it could catch fire? Or should I use a rock or.. what? Or would it be possible to have the heater heat the water in the stone dish, or would that be a bad idea?

Also, the side of the tank away from the light, the humidity is usually between 40 and 50, and on the other side of the tank, it stays around 50, I keep a water dish in there, but is that enough humidity?

And here’s my biggest question. Either yesterday or today, Spicy developed a white circle a bit behind his left eye, above his left arm, and I read that skin pigmentation is normal, but when he moved and got close enough for me to see, it looks like the skin is cut. Could this just be him shedding his skin or is it an actual cut? Because there’s not really anything in his enclosure to cut him... I have a few fake plants in there, but noting sharp enough to cut the skin..

Thanks to everybody for being patient with me^^’’

temps are fine

even if he feels cool he shouldnt be if the tank temps are correct. what kind of thermometer are you using?

also the humidity is a little low try spraying his tank more often should be 50-60% humidity

anyway you can get a picture of that mark on him? a cut would normally be red so i dont know what a large white spot would be

they do sometimes get small white spots in them

The thermometer is an Exo Terra one. The kind you stick on the side with double sided foam tape.

Well, it is kind of small, but yeah, it looks like it’s a cut or something, but the white is gone now, leaving just the cut looking thing. I do have a picture of before the white disappeared, but it’s a bad picture><

I kept my whites in the low 80’s during the day and I let it drop to room temp at night. 40% humidity is ideal, too much humidity and you get lots of bacterial infections. If it’s just white then it could be shed skin or recently healed skin. When you see red, that’s when you need to do something about a cut. Those Exoterra thermometers are worthless, the give you a general idea, but that’s about it. A digal one will give you accurate readings, but with a whites I never thought it was necessary, they will live happily in a wide range of enviornments as long as the levels are kept moderate.
