 RETF two frogs one cage

I have 2 red eyes and they are in the same 20 gal terrarium (the front glass door access, taller than wide ones). I think i have a male and female. I got him first and he is prob almost a year and a half. I think that she is about 4 months younger. anyway, she is still quite a bit smaller than him and since she is supposed to be bigger, is it possible that he is stressing her out to the point of dwarfing her size? Or, are they still too young to tell. I thought after a year they should be full size? They both eat adequately. I take him out when i feed her and i know she’s eating because i watch her eat. I was told that 2 can live fine in 20 gal and that they are communal frogs. He does try to climb on her back at night and i make him stop when i can. I would like to try to make this work somehow with one cage.

They are not communal frogs in any way. That is completely wrong. Two in a 20 gallon is bare minimum for a pair so you’re alright on space. They can take anywhere from 1 year to 18 months to reach adult hood. It has to do with food quanity and quality, as well as vitamin and calcium supplements. You have no way of knowing the sex of the smaller one really unless you have a very well trained eye. A young frog that is smaller and slower to grow could jut be a male. Your male frogs will mount or try to mount male frogs in the absence of a female. It is highly likely that a young frog would be stressed by this. Get a 10 gallon and grow the female out for another six months.
