 Winter is coming help please...

I’m not too concerned yet, but I’m thinking my white’s Yoda is getting ready to sleep for the winter. He’s eating less than usual though he shed recently so that would explain the loss in appitite. But If he does decide to hibernate, I’m really not sure how to care for him if he does. Do they still eat when Brumating or do they just sleep? I keep the temps in his enclosure at a constant 70-75. I’m used to lizards hibernating but I have no idea how frogs behave when they sleep. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I’ve never had a white’s hibernate. Yours will slow down, but will still eat and be active. Frog species that do hibernate will bury themselves and form a shell around their bodies while their metabolic rates will slow down to next to nothing. Keep the temps up where you have them and just feed a little less.

Thanks. I guess he is slowing down a little for a WTF at least. But now he’s not eating. He had shed about twice in two weeks but its been four days now and he still refuses to eat crickets. His belly has gotten a bit smaller but he still has a belly at least however, I’m still concerned. Is there anything I can do to get him to eat a least a little?

You can raise the tank’s temp. How often is he shedding? Hyper shedding is a sign of illness.

He shed twice in two weeks. I’m taking him to a vet in a couple of days because I know he’s sick now. He is having trouble swallowing his food which I believe is why he’s not eating that much. It’s not like his crix are too big either. They’re smaller than the space between his eyes. :( Do you know what could cause a frog to have trouble swallowing? I’ve checked him for Red Leg but I don’t see any immediate redness. I hope I don’t lose my little guy. I’ve really gotten attached to him.
