Russian tortoise facts please? Hi I have 8 Russians, 6 adults and 2 hatchlings. The female russians’ shell can grow 8-10 inches. The males are smaller, their shells usually grow to 5-6 inches. They should not be kept in an aquarium, there is not good airflow in them. They ideally should be kept outdoors in a secure area but if that is not possible and you need to keep them indoors, a tortoise table is best. Mine are kept indoors on a large homemade table. They do quite well

I have a pair of russian tortoises and they only eat vegables and a 20 gallon tank would not be best for them mine are both in a forty gallon tank and I tank them outside when it is sunny and warm, I dont want them to die.
