 In need of help/info

so’ i just got this little aquatic turtle yesterday, my neighbors we’re going through some difficult times and under the circumstances had to move without much notice and left me their turtle, they didnt really know anyone who would take it.
it is very small probably two inches in length.
i got a basking light and some uvb since i’ve been doing research and found that out
but can anyone give me some more helpful information?
im not sure what kind of turtle it is yet, i will be taking it to a reptile store on thursday and much help would be appriciated.
i am sure the previous owners will all due respect, didnt really knwo what they were doing.
they gave me some small pellets to feed it and that’s all
p.s. im currently housing her in a 20 gal tank.
plenty of space =]

You are doing the right thing by taking the little turtle to a pet store to find out what kind it is. They can help with what you will need for the little guy or gal. But once you find out, then you can go on the computer and research the kind of set up you need, and exactly what to feed it. Good luck. And God bless you for taking in the turtle and trying to do right thing as far as its care goes.

thank you, and yes i’ll be taking the little one tomorrow.
so far it had two small very small meal worm, and her little pellets
seems to be doing good, except she doenst seem to like to bask much .

How is your little turtle doing? Was the pet store able to help you with suggestions on the set up requirements? Did they suggest dried blood worms? When our son had a little aquatic turtle, we would buy the dried blood worms and drop them in the water. The turtle loved them. Please let me know how your little guy is doing.

i would also put some romaine lettuce in there and maybe some live plants.
