 Found-Russian Tortoise needs home- IL only

My daughter recently found a (what we thought was a) turtle near our local pond. She was able to identify it as, not a native species and we took it home. After contacting Chicagol herpetological (sp) society it’s been identified as a male Russian Tortoise. We’ve contacted the agency because we do not want to keep it but we do want it placed in a proper home. We are in contact with the local agency but they are slow in finding it a placement. After reading the posts here, I find that Russian Tortoises seem to be in demand as pets.
READ CAREFULLY!-Here’s my offer...If you can send me a picture of your proper tortoise habitat with/or without current residents I would consider allowing you to come pick the tortoise up. I will NOT ship it. Let me repeat...I wll NOT ship. I am located in the western suburbs of Chicago.
I would love to find "Hooky" (yes, we named him but he’s not staying, I promise) a good home and ASAP as he’s living in a large Rubbermaid container on my enclosed back porch. While we do take him out for walks in the sun, I’m certain that he needs more than we’re currently giving him ie-proper substrate, basking light, more socializing etc.... He loves his greens, (mustard, collard, turnip), romaine, dandelion and spring mix. I have no idea of his age but I think he’s really sweet...as tortoises go!
I’d love to post some photos but can’t seem to figure this site out. Any help would be appreciated!
