My RES Tank..tell me what you think!!!! Here is my RES tank, i got them yesterday 8/5 at the Hamburg show. They came with this tank and the two fake plants which dont seem to stay on the floor. Then we put some cork bark in as a basking spot. We were told that they might eat or chase guppies around the tank so we got two of them and nothing goes on between them and the turtles. I am totally new to these. Any advice on minor/major changes i should make for the sake of my turtles would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance..

My RES Tank..tell me what you think!!!! I agree, that tank looks way too small for something that’ll grow to be nearly a foot in length.

My RES Tank..tell me what you think!!!! Edward did not say get a 10 gallon, i would skip the 10(waste of money) go for a 55-100 gallon tank, the RES will need it,
Ps, most likly never going to happen, but hey could not say we did not try.

My RES Tank..tell me what you think!!!! ok guys its an old post, and they came on here obviously knowing nothing, and asking for advice, the least you could have done was give it to them nicely, at least they made an attempt to find out what else to do for the turts. the turts came in that tank, and without researching the babies first( and admittedly, very few people do) she/he had no way of knoing that it was too small..sheesh

Well LOL u got the wrong guppies thoses are the expencive nice 1s they sell feeder guppies too the females have no color and the males do and they have small fins. Lol they use to be the nice gupppies when i was 7 but now there feeders. Well we had or two turtles that size 5 years ago and it took them time lik 2 or 3 years before we had to move them out of a tank that size then we put them in a ten then a 55 gal and there huge now HUGE and i have another baby theats mine that i started in a 10 a year agoa nd shes still in there doing fines. Heres some pick. Oh i feed mine shrimp frezz dried and fish food and turtle sticks they lik to eat fish too and brim shrimp. Sometimes its hard to find stuff at commercail stores lik petco places lik that if u have and stores that sell fish that arend chaines all over the us they tend to have breeder guppys and brim shrimp and some other cool stuff. GOOD LUCK this is my 1 year old

They are going to die if kept in that... First if all they need to be able to get out of the water... second they need a filter... third they are illegal to be sold if under 4" in length.... You have a big job ahead of you... I have four RES and they are very time consuming..... However they are the best pets they have allot of issues such as salmonella and other diseases.... I suggest reading more info about these turtles... if not able to give them the sufficient care they need I would find a new home for them....You need a basking lamp... and docking station and heat... you will also need to completely change there tank out daily or get a sufficient filter... in which you will need to clean it out at least once a week... you will need to have proper feeding strategies and a water declorifier... i hope this helps... let me know if you need help....

My RES Tank..tell me what you think!!!! Get out while you still can!!
This is how it starts. The foot in the door trick...etc.
Before anything else research and reach out as you have done here. The cost of keeping a healthy turtle can be a lot more expensive than the initial purchase. For instance that turtle would be fine for a year or maybe two in a fifty gallon tank with one hundred gallon capacity filter. After wards it’ll need at least a 125 gallon tank with at least two one hundred gallon filters. Then there is the lighting, basking area. water heater, food that are essential for a healthy turtle. See what I mean? I luv turtles and it’s all worth it.
Good luck:)

yes watch him with the lil pink stones on the bottom because if he decides to eat them it will slowly kill him and try to clear up the water buy water dechlorinator and reclean the tank watch out for fake plants the plastic will make him sick and cork is good or you can buy and regular basking dock he will eat them guppies sooner or later when you got guppies comet goldfish it makes feel like they are in he wild they eat regular turtle pellets you gotta have a heating pad on the bottom of the tank or have some form of a heat emmiter ..uva and uvb bulbs but good luck its only expensive to set up entirely but taking care of its cheap

My RES Tank..tell me what you think!!!! your turtles will die in that within a month.you should google austin turtle page and it will tell you everything.but just in case somethingis wrong woth the site or u cant get on it then for those two turtles you willneed an 80-100 gallon.80 as aminimum.they need to be fed a varied diet.when they are babies they will eat mostly meats and they will be almost entirely carnivorous eating more plant matter as they age.when youbuy a prepared turtle foo dtry to get a good one like reptomin which can be bought at most pet stores.also you shouldnt use gravel for the bottom of the tank.you have to get something that is big enough so that the turtle can never eat it or if you want and this i highly reccomend you could leave the tank bare bottom.i know it doesnt sond like it would look good but trust me youre better of with a bare bottom tank.it will be easier to clean and you will most likely have a healthier turtle for it.however if you cant provide any of this then you should consider taking it to your local herp socioty.they will take him and make sure that he goes to a good home.
