Well, neither hotdogs or chicken nuggets, etc. are good for turtles. As a matter of fact, a diet consisting only of these selections will probably slowly kill your turtles. Just because they like something doesn’t mean you should allow them to have it. Given the choice, a human child would probably prefer a diet of candy bars but you wouldn’t allow them to actually have that, would you? I recommend you find a commercial turtle food -- such as Reptomin -- and start with that. The turtles may be resistant to the change at first but as long as you offer healthy choices and only healthy choices they will accept it eventually -- They aren’t going to starve themselves but they may hold out for a few days hoping for better offerings. Just don’t give in.

Along with the Reptomin you can give them freeze dried krill (we use Hikari brand) as a treat, they should scarf that stuff right down!

True Teri, but there are some exceptions.
I don’t know what they are.
The only exception I can think of is COOKED chicken with NO extra breading, or seasonings, and such.-collin

I mean like deli meats. You can use chicken, fish, my turtles sometimes like hamburger too, but don’t feed them a lot because of its fat content. And steak they sometimes like that too. I would just stay away from the sliced meats.

Give them what they want!! I beleive I read that up top well if turtles want Nuggets and fries I guess I am looking to study them in the wrong places. All this time their enviroment was Mc Donalds and Wendys. I guess they aquatic turtles only want Fillet of fish and chips. The things some people feed their animals make me laugh and cry at the same time.

Try live earth worms and live guppies or mollies. Just remove the hot dogs from the diet. NEVER offer them again.
If the turtles are healthy they will eventually take other foods.
In the long term you will want to get the softie to eat whole fish and worms and (cooked) crayfish and the red ear should be on a diet of water plants and leafy green vegetables and fruit and some insects.But for now try live or pre-killed fish and earthworms. They should take them.
Don’t worry if they don’t eat for several days. They will not starve.

Apparently from where i come from (England) either Give them a special turtle food or Frozen blood worms (not processed just chriogenically frozen) THEY SWIM AGAIN! You can also give them a special diet but not mc donalds and burger kings

That dosent seem like a wise choice of diet, I do also have a problem though my turtle only wants fish or meat and no veggies like he does in the summer
