Help, I need a Turtle Tank bigger than 30Gal...

Does anyone know where I can buy a glass turtle tank larger than 30gal? So far, I have not found anyone who sells them (if they exists at all). I currently have a 30Gal. turtle tank made by All-Glass Aquariums called The Natuary. This tank is specially made for housing turtles in shallow water levels. Its configured with a half-height end glass side with a removable molded acrylic top side panel for the purpose of outfitting a power filter at the right height to operate properly. I thought about using a regular fish tank and filling it halfway up with water, but am not sure if there are any power filters that will work properly (if at all) with such low water levels. Is there a common rule of thumb that says the water level has to be "x" height in order for their to be enough water pressure for the filter to draw water?
Your advice is much appreciated.
Regards,
TM

Well you could go to walmart they sell 55 g for $150 or any pet store would have some, if they don’t, ask! Because they could probably order you one. The one at walmart is a reg fish tank, but I did see turtle tanks at Petsmart the other night, for $60 not sure how big it was though didn’t really look because I just use a reg. fish tank. And you can use a canister filter for shallower water, or they have extentions for the reg. filters that work well. There are a lot of different brands of filters, I have only used one so someone else may give you ideas to what filter to use. Hope this helps a little...

You have a number of options open to you. Generally, you don’t need to get a "turtle tank" because regular aquariums work just fine when they are filled partially. If you don’t desire a lot of vertical space -- as it is often not necessary with smaller turtles -- then it might be best to go with a 40-50 gal. breeder tank or larger. These are more wide and short than skinny and tall regular tanks.

If you prefer power filters then all you have to do is buy a tube extension to lower it to the bottom. The water will still have to fall far so it is a lot of noise.

You may want to try a submersible filter or a canister filter as the other poster described. They would be much better options for your situation.

Thanks to you both! I bought the turtle tank only b/c the guy at the fish store told me that the power filter would not be strong enough to suck the water up through the tube if I was using a regular tank partially filled with water (even if the intake on the tube was still underwater). I guess he is wrong. Well, I do need a lot of verticle space as my lizards share the same tank as the turtles - so I think I am looking at a 90 gal tank or so.

Your turtles live with your lizards!?
Egad.
Um...
That is not a good idea, and whoever told you it is is crazy.
I usually agree with mixing species, but not different KINDS of reptiles.
Like Monitors with small lizards or geckos, or snakes with turtles, iguanas with tortoises.
That is not a good idea at all.
Remove them AS SOON as possible.

I agree with Dragón_Dorado having the lizards in there is not a good idea. They could drown or even be attacked or eaten by the turtles or vise versa.
