Is it okay to mix breeds in the same tank?? Hey there. I have had yellow bellied sliders for almost 6 monthes now and they are still fairly small(size of a half dollar...)Ive taken them to a vet to make sure they are growing at the normal rate and he said my turtles are completely healthy, so i have upgraded to a much larger tank, and I am now interested in purchasing 4 RES from a well recommended website. Is it okay to mix these together, or will I be damning my turtles to hell?

Is it okay to mix breeds in the same tank?? As long as you quarantine them for a few days anyway (even if it is from someone reputable) it should be okay. They should be of comparable size though -- otherwise some might intimidate others and you get feeding problems .. when they get older you may have trouble keeping them together ... RES are very aggressive. Are you sure you want to purchase 4? Even if they are small you will need a very big tank (50 gal. to start) to house them all and still keep up water quality.

Is it okay to mix breeds in the same tank?? Yeah that sounds like a lot of turtles at once. Granted I have four babies at once it wasn’t necessarily by choice.

Is it okay to mix breeds in the same tank?? WOW. As adults you’d need at the absolute very least a 300 gallon tank/pond.-collin

Is it okay to mix breeds in the same tank?? Well, I havent purchased the 4 yet!!! Don’t worry I was waiting because I was hoping for an answer, so thank you for your replies!....My new tank (My very expensive tank...) is built into the wall, and I believe the man who came to put it in said it is a 70 gal...my husband knows so I will have to ask him, but I also have a lake in my back yard...unfortunatly it is too cold to have my babies in in it except for a few short monthes in the summer, so i am considering emptying my coffee table aquarium and making that for the RES. (40 gal) Exactly what do you mean by aggressive? Would it be a better decision to maybe get two and keep them seperate from my yellow bellies??? Again Thank you for any help you can offer.
