I think my RES is pregnant... I have two RES’s. I thought mine was a male and my little brothers was a male. Come to find out, mine’s a female. Well, today they started making a bed in the rocks, and my gf says that that is a place where they lay their eggs. I think this is plausible since the male has been flirting with the female, and he’s been on top of her... anyone know for sure? She and he are just lying in the bed they made, mostly just her, so any help would be great. Thanks.

I think my RES is pregnant... Either way, if they were males you sdhould’ve seperarted them immediatly, all male reptiles are very territorial/agressive to other males of their species. Check her belly and take her to the vet.-collin

I think my RES is pregnant... Well, I know mine is a female. I don’t mind if she is pregnant, we’re pretty sure she’s not YET, but should be by the end of this month. She’s been returning his mating calls so...

I think my RES is pregnant... It is extremely important that you set up a nesting site for your female or you risk killing her. It is NOT natural for RES to lay their eggs in the water. They only do so as a last resort when no other options are provided for them. If it seems as though your female is getting ready to nest in the water it is possible that she is already gravid (a potentially deadly condition).I advise you to provide her with a nesting box immediately. It isn’t hard -- even if all you have is a tank. You will need a rubbermaid container that will be able to fit inside your tank. Fill it to the brim with a 50/50 sand/unfertilized soil mixture. Place it inside your tank and lower the water level to the brim of the rubbermaid to provide the turtle with a makeshift land area that she can crawl into. If necessary, remove the basking area for the time being and use this to keep the soil warm. Also, it is important to not have rocks and such in the substrate -- they don’t like rocks in their nesting sites to the point that it could influence her decision to nest there. The rubbermaid should be fairly deep -- as deep as you can get it and big enough for her to fit on comfortably.

I think my RES is pregnant... Ok, well something interesting happened today. I bought my GF a turtle, a RES and guess what? It’s a female, it’s a HUGE female. It’s claws are very short, its tail is extremely short and skinny, and she’s alot bigger than the male I thought I had. Come to find out, both of MY turtles are males! WTF is going on? Why do they do the kissing/paw flipping thing to each other? WHAT IS GOING ON???? Please help!

I think my RES is pregnant... you need to separate them. they are not happy with each other that is why they are doing that. two males together are very likely to fight, get them away from each other before you end up with a turtle missing a foot or leg or something.
