 Lighting Help for Snapping Turtle

What kinds of UVA lighting is the best for turtles? I have a reptile UVA lighting, also i have regular heat lamp for basking.

You need a UVB light as well.
Just go to the store and pick up a ReptiSun 5.0.
UVA and UVB.

dont be too surprized if your snapper doesnt bask.. they seldom do keep in mind the uvb is more important then the uva in those bulbs, and I agree with the reptisun 5.0 its a very good bulb and not too expensive. GD

Thanks for the replies. I have Exo Terra Repti Glo 8.0 . UVA(33%) and UVB(8%) . It says "For reptiles with very high UV requirement". Is this too strong? and also is this the cause that my water plants are starting to die?

I’m sorry, I don’t know about that.
For my spotted turtles I use a Plant and Aquarium light from Home Depot, but for my Collard lizard I use ReptiSun 5.0.
Turtles do well with plant growing lights, they have UVB.
And what you have SHOULD work, I’m not positive though.

thanks for the reply i went and found out that the plants are not dying. I thought that plant turning brown meant they were dying, but it was algae.
