Found baby turtle eggs!!! need help

So I found 8 baby turtle eggs laying on the side of the road. I picked them up and brought them back but am at loss as to what to do with them. The mom Was laying on the side of the road dead right next to the turtles. I think she may have been hit by a car. Please help me....I would love to hatch these little guys on my own.

Thanks,

Alecia

have you moved them from their original position?that could kill the eggs.put them in their exact position if you can. put them in a box of half peat moss half playsand and incubate(keep) at about 84 degrees.

did you move them around or keep them in the position they were in?you can find peat moss at home depot. it isn’t actually a moss, like a rich soil that’s moist.make sure it’s organtic with no fertilizers and no miracle gro.this can kill the egg or cause deformity.just make sure to add playsand to the peat moss so it isn’t too moist.
you don’t have to use a heat lamp. under tank heaters are fine.make sure it’s around 85 degrees.

good luck.

little less than 85.
anything above 85 is GOING to kill the eggs.
Sett it around 80-83
Good Luck

there are so many turtles. its nature. id just let them die. not trying to sound mean but it happens. probably a red ear slider anyways. i could see if it was something not so common.

there will be plenty of turtles laying eggs to make of for the ones that are lost.

most turtles dont lay eggs on the side of roads anyways. she was probably hit and the eggs came out.

thats sick. if you don’t incubate the eggs then you could feed them to something else. like birds or something. better than a waste.

well do that then. my point was that they should not be hatched.

i personally would rather feed my pets something i knew was not sitting on the side of the road for hrs. heck could be something unhealthy with the eggs. i dunno. i dont feed my pets something i found laying on the road.

many are "wasted" a year. its a good thing there is always more turtles out there breeding then just that one. its life.wasnt meant to be.

or just dig a small hole near a lake and carefully put the eggs in and then cover it up with dirt. at least a few would have a slim chance of hatching.
