 New Turtle

I just got a new turtle dont know if its land or water i know its a female but i dont know what to fed it or how to take care of it. My mom said i could keep it i just need to know how to take care of it.

Like reptilefreak said we need more info. and to see if it’s a water turtle put it in a small bowl of water deep enough to where it would have to swim to be able to breat and if it sinks take it out real quick and that means you have a land turtle.
