 Water problem

I have two eastern painteds,and the water turns green about once a month.I do water changes once a month but it still is a pain to have green water.I also run an Eheim canister filter.Can i stop this problem?

Sounds like it might be the tank. If you’ve changed tanks since then it could be anything you have in the tank. If you have rocks on the bottom boil them.Bleach the tank rinse it out until you can’t smell it anymore then let it sit for at least 24 hours and wash and rinse everything really really good!
