 Land areas

I need a land area for a 8 inch(about) RES. He’s in a 75 and I can’t think of anything to use for a haul out area!!!!

Is there any brand that has an area that like sticks to the glass or even floats maybe(like free float).

Thanks!

For my babies I have a turtle ramp but that is WAY too small.

Thanks!

The only thing I can think of is that cork bark, but even that might not work.

I don’t like things that take up water space, you could make an above tank basking area. You will have to build things, that’s why I can’t do that because because my parents don’t really like me building with something like that. You can buy a large critter keeper and cut one of the long sides so light can go through and use a turtle dock as a ramp up to the kritter keeper.

there are BIG walk on basking things like your babies have... and you can put a couple of big ones together and have a REALLY big land spot.

he means so the land won’t go into water; so it’ll stay afloat and be completely dry.

Cork here is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Getting a piece big enough would be like......i don’t even know!!!

Finding floating basking area’s for larger turtles can be VERY hard. And I don’t like the brick thing. Large turtles are brutal when they dive off them and I have seen them moved, hitting the glass or cutting into their shell. The pic is what I used for mine. It’s cheap wire shelving...get the stuff that’s plastic coated so it doesn’t rust. In the pic we had used chain to hold it up but later found that pastic wire ties worked better. The whole thing sits on the top of the tank allowing room under it for them to use the whole tank of water, the wire ties make it adjustable to any size turtle...I use this now with the babies and it works great and have used it for 10 inch turtles as well. It’s a trip to walmart and about $5 for the entire thing. If you go to home depot they will cut the shelving to the size you need, cost is a bit more there but with them cutting it it’s worth it. Then come home and use the wire ties to hold the two together and you have a basking area that also keeps them in the cage.

Oh yeah any rock or flat thing will work on the wires...I used flat pieces of marble.

you could also get plexiglass and glue it to a corner of the tank with aquarium grade silicone.

The wire is plastic coated..comes that way so no paint to chip off.

You can’t see the basking area really in this pic but it is the one I posted before, upper left corner of the tank.
