Ok I have never had a soft shell turtle before and have no idea what to do for them. What do they eat, what type of tank do I need ( how basically would this one need set up)?. I appreciate any help anyone can give me asap.

Also what kind of soft shell is this, if anyone knows?

Thanks

 Help!!!!

Would it matter if it was in a bigger tank? I have a 30 gallon that is not being used and would hate to have to buy a new one just for this?

 Help!!!! UPDATED with pics

Ok I think I have the tank ok. Please take a look and let me know what you all think if you have a sec.
He seems to like it, he hasnt stopped swimming much.

He is in a 30 gallon tank and he is tiny so he seems like he is having a good time in there all by himself.

Now if I could only get him to eat!!

the tank size is perfect i think. its better to go bigger in my opinion.

you might want to change the gravel to something a bit more fine(maybe even sand meant for softies). softy’s have very sensitive shells that can get infected very easy with just the smallest cuts or scrapes. other then that i think your tank looks great.

Get sand!!!!

It looks great and the debris including turtle poop stay on top of the sand.
I’d say about 15-20 pounds of sand would be good. If you get quikrete sand from a hardware store you have to clean it a lot. stick some in a bucket, stick a water hose in the bucket and let it just overflow and every once in a while stir it up until the water comes out clear. You have to do that with all sand including aquarium sand. Aquarium sand would be best for a soft shell because the hardware store kind is a lot rougher than aquarium sand which is really soft and fine.
