Swimming pool as turtle pond
I’m not sure if this would work, but I have one of them $100 pools that you can buy from walmart, and now we have a real above ground pool, and I was thinking that it would be awesome to use it as a pond for my turtles when the get older, because it already has a filter, and all I would have to do is put chicken wire over the intake of the filter so they wouldn’t go in there. Do you think this would work? I wish I knew how many gallons it is, but I know it has to be over 500 gallons. And it wouldn’t cost be really anything.

Swimming pool as turtle pond
Well kind of. It’s one of those that has an inflatable ring around the edge, and it’s around 2-4 foot deep.

Swimming pool as turtle pond I have one that is 12 x 3 foot. If thats what it is its 1700 gallon roughly, and yeah itll do okay but the filter may not be strong enough for turtles in that much water

Swimming pool as turtle pond You can always just add a pond filter from any hardwater store with a big garden section. The biggest concern is weight. You’ve got a basement, I hope?

I was planning on using it as an outdoor pund, because the kind of dirt that we have isn’t suitable foor a basement because it would cave in. But if I do this, we are going to put chicken wire completely around it and make a ramp that completely surrounds the pool, and will have rubber like you find on boats on it.
