Cool little Common Snapper. People on here are going to say to let it go back where you found it or the closest water area to that place. I’m not saying it’s wrong to take a turtle from the wild but I’m not saying it’s right. Just do whatever you want to do.

Ya, I totally understand. I have had alot of experience with turtles though. I’ve had a Tortoise, 5 Painted a wild soft shell. I always made sure that they had all their vitamins ex. He has been eating for me and he is just so cute. I will probably will take him on my next fishing trip though to let him lose. That is what I did with my soft shell.

On the highway? How the hell were you able to see something that small while driving AND know that it was a turtle? I would never see something like that.

that’s how i kinda ended up with mine. it wasn’t me that found it but someone else saw it on the highway and kept it. now i ended up with it. i dont think i would of seen something that small either..lol but my friend said he just watches out for stuff like that. guess he finds turtles all the time. We dont have stuff like that out here in Vegas. most we see on the side of roads are dead cats and or dogs. nothing cool like turtles.

Well, I always keep my eye’s peeled for different things on the highway. I usually find Frog’s, Snakes or Monarch Caterpillars but here in Iowa, it’s usually Deer that you have to look out for though. Last year I found a snapper, that was about 10 times the size of this one. I brought him home to. You should of seen the look on my kids faces when I went to pick him up and he snapped @ me.lol! He just about got me too. They are very fast and can stretch their head around pretty good. Needless to say, I let him go @ this pond shortly after though.lol:)

Thats a really cool little guy, id keep him. I saw one crossing the road last spring, he was pretty big but not full grown, i stopped and got out and looked at him, its like he was even afraid of me. They are cool turtles thats for sure!

I went for a nice long walk today and found 27 snapper nests raided by some type of animal. It was very upsetting.

What an adorable hatchling you found. I cant beleive you were able to see him.The other day I was walking near a road and saw a huge snapper crossing the road when I was about to cross to help it a subaru ran over it. I was so angry people should whatch where their going.

thats to sad to think of. There is this on website I went on today which is about turtle rehabilitation, there was a turtle with a cruched shell! a dog once attacked one of my three toed box turtles, I think that turtles have a hard time with cars and dogs, they have many threats. poor turtles.

When I was little we had a black lab that any time there were turtles in our yard, mostly box turtles, he would sit there and chew on the shell.
