Well as most know in Iowa the floods of ’08 were as bad or worse then the floods of ’93
Well its been about 10 days of decent weather and me and my bud we’re checkin for herps around the yard, looking for baby garter’s for the zoo’s coral snake to eat.
We walked past his 100 gallon pond full of gold fish and some angel fish and them sucker fish.
We noticed that the angel had completely dissapeared.
Will I was looking for the angel fish I saw a strange figure and I thought it was a pond turtle or a red ear slider wondering up from the 9 ft + overflown river.
I said, "Oh sweet a turtle"
I went down to grab and it shot off.
I told my friend it might even be a Common Snapper and asked if he was willing to risk his hands for the capture of the turtle.
So we stuck are hands down the bottom of the pond and about a minute later up comes my friends had with a year old common snapping turtle in his hand.
We caught our herp for the summer.
We’re usually catching rattler’s down in Arizona to show off and tell stories.
But we’ve never been able to find these beauties down in arizona.
Over all a fine yound turtle
(No pics Sorry)

Hope you enjoyed the short story,
Boaz
