Why do you want to let him go? Is it wild caught or something? If you’ve had it for a while and and it’s store bought, you shouldn’t release it.

very true, it’s actually considered cruel to a number of pro’s. Wild specimens adapt to illness’s and viruses and what not. If its a young one, it has a better chance, but if not, it might not survive. Do to it having to learn to find his own food, adapting to water conditions and weather. This is why its VERY important that you don’t purchase or take in a turtle just out of quick instincts. Buyers should REALLY consider the responsibility in getting them. Turtles are OUTSTANDING animals to have.

If you really want to release that turtle, but still want a pet turtle, you can always go to the pet store.

They only have RES in petstores, but no other turtles. But in the wild we have alligator snappers, common snappers, and Red Ear Sliders.
